Jewish Historian

Joseph Good

Joe and his wife Debbie are the founders of the teaching ministry Hatikva.org.

Joseph Good has pioneered the awakening of the Christian faith to its Hebraic foundations in the history and stories of the Hebrew Bible since the 1980’s. His consequent ongoing research into the Temple of Jerusalem is highly respected and he has been honored to present his findings to the prestigious Temple Institute of Jerusalem, for which he consulted and contributed to their in depth research for many years. He continues this day to lead groups on scholarly tours to the Holy Land.

Joe and his wife Debbie are the founders of Hatikva.org, a teaching ministry, as well as Jerusalemtemplestudy.com, which serves the purpose of educating people about the Temple itself and Temple-related context of Scripture. Good travels the country to teach and is frequently found on the Trinity Broadcast Network, Christian radio programs, and he continues to write and spread the good news through his teachings and numerous books and articles.

Good’s most recent work is "Measure the Pattern, Vol. I," which includes color illustrations, maps, sketches and decade’s worth of research about the Temple. Additional books between Good and his wife, and sometimes in collaboration are "Prophecies in the Book of Esther," "Discovering the Locations of the Temple Complex," "A Concise Guide to the Mishnah and the Tosefta: An Exploration of Jewish Oral Law," and "Rosh HaShanah and the Messianic Kingdom to Come."

Archeologist

Leen Ritmeyer

Scholar of ancient texts and Middle-Eastern history.

Dr. Leen Ritmeyer is an architect and even casual followers of Biblical Archaeology have probably heard of Leen Ritmeyer. Leen has served as conservator or architect at dozens of excavations in Israel “from Dan to Beersheva,” including sites as prominent as Arad, Bet Shean, Ashdod, and Banias. Leen’s most important contribution, and that which brought him worldwide acclaim, was in Jerusalem where he worked with renowned archaeologists Benjamin Mazar (Temple Mount) and Naaman Avigad (Jewish Quarter). Other Jerusalem projects included the Byzantine Cardo and the Herodian/Roman villas.

While responsible for numerous publications, his opus magnum was The Quest (2006). This comprehensive history of the Temple Mount has become standard required reading for all archaeologists and archaeological students. In 1983, Leen and his wife Kathleen founded Ritmeyer Architectural Design, an archaeological architecture firm providing expertise on numerous and varied projects.

Leen currently serves on the editorial board of Biblical Archaeology Review and on the archaeology faculty of the Cardiff University; he has provided all of the excellent architectural renderings for Khirbet el-Maqatir, and will do the same at Shiloh.

Do I need to buy any hardware?

Hardware is included with each of our VR software licenses. Immersive provides a mid-range gaming laptop specifically suited and tested for the Virtual Reality experience to function optimally. Immersive also provides an Oculus Rift headset and controllers with each software license. As long as you have an active software license, you can continue to use the hardware provided by Immersive. Depending on your situation and use cases, we recommend you purchase an adapter that allows you to hook up the laptop to a TV or large projector screen so that others can engage in the experience along with the person in the headset.

What kind of setup is required to use the full VR Immersive Bible Experience?

Our VR experiences are some of the most immersive and in-depth available and we will always strive to keep it that way. As such, the hardware currently needed to power our software requires a mid-range laptop computer and an Oculus Rift headset and controllers, all of which Immersive will provide with each software license purchase. Oculus recommends a 15’ x 15’ empty square space to allow people to explore and interact without running into real-world objects. This can either be a space you specifically setup/dedicate for this purpose or it can be a space you use for other things and then just clear out a bit of room whenever you want to utilize Immersive’s VR experiences. When you first put on the headset, we’ve created a simple tutorial to help you navigate the controls more easily.

Is there a time limit on how long I should spend in Immersive's VR experiences?

Generally, we recommend 10-30 min sessions per user and multiple sessions per user over time for an optimal learning experience, but people have spent up to 2 hours at a time exploring our virtual worlds. It is up to you, but be sure to share the fun!
